Glowing Growth Autism partnership

Updated: Apr 19

Samantha's Learn to Swim is a noteworthy provider of modern day swim instructing. Comprised in the company is the ability to carve out space for those people who acquire atypical learning styles. Today announced the integration between Glowing Growth Autism Services and Samantha' s Learn to Swim. Our two educational communities have joint together to provide opportunity to the students at Glowing Growth Autism.

The partnership between Glowing Growth Autism (GGAS) and Samantha's Learn to Swim (SLS) offers integration between the two learning spaces. Specifically, GGAS has integrated the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in to their programs and this is a type of learning technique that SLS has integrated in to its instructing practices. The ABA model implements support that is tailored to the individual and their unique needs. While this model reinforces positive behaviour SLS also offers a space for the child to lead their own learning and hence, have autonomy over their own world. "Samantha's Learn to Swim (SLS) is a space of exceptional opportunity, one which pushes the boundaries of a traditional swim lesson. Samantha believes in child-based learning and instructor-based mentorship and guidance", says the founder and clinical director of GGAS, Ida Chung.

In honour of the partnership, SLS will be providing 300 minutes to towards swimming lessons for the children with GGAS, as well as an extra swim instructor. Joining these lessons then, will include three children, two swim instructors, and one a specialized therapist from GGAS.

I am excited to have GGAS as a member. Ida's philosophy is to provide comprehensive interventions that are highly individualized to each individual. Her education background excels the average autism therapist - she is a member of the Ontario Association of Behaviour Analysis, Inc (ONTABA) and the Association for Behaviour Analysis International (ABAI). She is a part-time professor at Humber College in the Bachelor of Behavioural Science Program and is currenlty pursuing her Ph. D in Psychology. And I couldn't have asked for a better partner to join Samantha's Learn to Swim.
